The KTM 85 SX is a true racing motorcycle.
The 85SX is powerful enough to impress even professional riders. Pilots usually underestimate small but powerful engines. The KTM 85 SX is a true racing motorcycle. It doesn't grip very well in the low range. But in the mid-range the motorcycle simply explodes with power. Maximum power is 21.5 hp. If you want more power or change the nature of its supply, then adjust the position of the power valve. It's not difficult to do this. First you need to ride the KTM 85 SX, then turn the valve adjustment knob located to the right of the engine 1/8 clockwise. Ride again. Turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise 1/8 (from the original position). Determine in which position of the adjustment knob, the power of the motorcycle suits you best. Continue to rotate the handle little by little in this direction until you find the position you want. These adjustments have a significant impact on power delivery, so it's worth the time and effort to try out several positions.

The single-cylinder two-stroke engine is easy to maintain and has a long service life. A liquid cooling system is used. The engine is started using a kick starter. Fuel injection is carburetor type. The manufacturer recommends using AI-98 gasoline. The gearbox is equipped with dog clutches. Gears shift easily and clearly. Clutch – multi-disc, crankcase.
The brake system is reliable. Brakes – disc, hydraulic. The front brake is equipped with a 4-piston caliper, the rear with a 2-piston caliper. The suspension is standard for motocross motorcycles. The front fork is telescopic, inverted type. The rear suspension is a pendulum with a monoshock absorber.
Disadvantages of the KTM 85 SX:
Preload ring. The plastic preload ring must be replaced with a stronger one. If you apply excessive force to it, you can deform it. We used a long flathead screwdriver.
Power valve regulator. To adjust the KTM power valve, you must use a square nut wrench. We didn't have such a tool. I had to get out.
The screw with the air release hole has a No. 15 star slot. Once again we didn't have the right tool. I had to use a hex head wrench. Everything would be much simpler if a Phillips head screw was used.
Steering wheel cushion. It’s not at all clear why KTM can’t install normal handlebar cushions on their motorcycles?
The ODI pens themselves are pretty good. But again. If you want to change them, you will need a special hex key.
The air intake , although similar to the air intakes installed on adult models, is very difficult to remove. In order to get to the air filter, I had to use a flathead screwdriver. So, you shouldn’t believe the manufacturer’s statements that you won’t need tools to remove the air intake.
