CALCULATE THE COST OF DELIVERY IN RUSSIA
In addition to the many advantages of traveling on motor vehicles, there are also a number of disadvantages, one of them is the unsuitability of two-wheeled vehicles for transporting goods. To compensate for this drawback, motorcycles are equipped with various luggage boxes - panniers. There may be several locations for the panniers, but the most popular is behind, right behind the passenger seat. The rear case is attached to the trunk, which is either included initially with the motorcycle, or purchased separately ready-made, or made independently. Since the start of production of the Stels Flex 250 motorcycle, there are no ready-made luggage racks for sale, and you need to make it yourself.
Design.
The trunk for the rear case is structurally a metal U-shaped frame, on one side it is rigidly attached to the motorcycle frame, and on the other side it holds the case mounting platform. The rigidity requirements for the trunk are high, since during movement it is subject to large dynamic loads, especially when the trunk is loaded. However, to make a trunk with a large margin of safety means making it large and bulky, which does not fit well in design with a motorcycle, especially a small one. It was decided to develop a trunk design that would meet the following requirements:
1. The level of strength is sufficient for transporting a load weighing up to 10 kg in a trunk on asphalt roads. 2. Installation of a luggage rack on a motorcycle, as well as its dismantling, should not require any replacement fasteners or spare parts; the manufacture of any additional fastenings on the motorcycle frame is not allowed. 3. The trunk with a trunk attached to it should not cause discomfort to the passenger or conceal his space. 4. The height of the case mounting should be such that it does not cover the rear brake light. 5. The trunk must not interfere with the use of the passenger's standard side handles. 6. The trunk should be beautiful and unnoticeable.

Manufacturing.
The following trunk design meets the above requirements. It is based on a U-shaped part, bent in different planes, made of a thick-walled steel pipe with an outer diameter of 18-20 mm. The ends of the pipes are welded to Z-shaped fasteners, made from pieces of steel angle. The fasteners are screwed onto the standard places of the passenger handles, on top of them. The case platform is installed in the center of the bend of the U-part and is fixed through and through with bolts and nuts. Finally, the open (hollow) ends of the pipes are welded, the surface of the trunk is puttied, primed, and painted.
If you don’t have a pipe bender, you can bend pipes like this: regular cuts are made along the entire length of the circumference, and the pipe is easily bent by hand, after which the cuts are welded.
In places with red arrows, you need to weld more metal to strengthen it.
To secure the trunk, it is necessary to replace the standard bolts of the passenger handles with longer ones - three centimeters.
For aesthetic reasons, the platform for the case should be slightly tilted forward.
To make the seat easy to install and remove, the two rubber supports need to be trimmed a little on the side.Operation and modernization.
After using the trunk for a short time, a barely noticeable crack appeared in one of the folds (at the welding point). It was decided to strengthen the trunk structure with two steel rods with a diameter of 6 mm.
After strengthening, the trunk was used actively and for a long time, driving on various roads, including dirt roads, with a trunk load of up to ten kilograms. No deformations of the trunk or its attachment points to the frame were detected. This design of the trunk for the Stels Flex 250 motorcycle can be considered successful and recommended for repetition by everyone who wants to install a rear trunk.
