The Suzuki GV1400 Cavalcade was available in the US until 1988 and in Europe until 1991, after which it disappeared from dealers and was no longer sold. Despite its outstanding characteristics and equipment, the model did not become popular and quickly fell into oblivion. Suzuki did not develop the luxury tourer line, which took a lot of resources but did not bring much profit. In addition, Suzuki was never able to beat the Honda Gold Wing 1200, which was in much greater demand. Over the entire production period, only 8,500 Suzuki GV1400 Cavalcade motorcycles were produced, most of which (almost 7,000 units) were sold in 1986.
Suzuki
If you thought that in the picture there is a “Golda”, you urgently need a cat. =)
GV1400 Cavalcade from Suzuki is a luxury touring motorcycle that was available from 1985 to 1988 in North America, and until 1991 in Europe. There were three modifications: GT, LX, LXE, each of which had more functions. Suzuki is the latest major motorcycle manufacturer to launch a luxury tourer. The Cavalcade was the largest, heaviest and most powerful luxury touring motorcycle available in 1985.
The Cavalcade has a DOHC 1360cc V4 engine with 16 valves with hydraulic equalizers and driveshaft drive for easier and cheaper maintenance. Many of the GV1400's standard features were considered options on other motorcycles in 1985. LX and LXE models were equipped with self-canceling turn signals, automatic rear air suspension for leveling the motorcycle, rear suspension pretensioner, adjustable front shock absorbers, electronic cruise control, radio, cassette recorder with LCD display, with volume control and radio station selection on the steering wheel, and the ability to manually adjust headlights , adjustable passenger platforms, adjustable steering wheel and windshield. The radio was in a decorative housing that resembled a fuel tank. The radio had an automatic volume control that raised or lowered the volume level based on the speed of the motorcycle. The Cavalcade's fuel tank was located under the driver's seat, but refueling was done through a filler neck in the false tank. The standard, automotive-style oil filter was located on the centerline of the bottom of the motorcycle, between the pipes. The engine was liquid cooled and the electric fans were automatically turned on by a thermostat. The radio antenna could be lowered and unscrewed to cover it with the rain cover that came with all models. There are two lockable glove compartments located on either side of the driver's console. There are two boxes for the passenger. The passenger can appreciate the convenience of the passenger backrest and adjustable armrests. The case had a steel cable running along the bottom edge and a lock could be attached to it. The central trunk was illuminated and there was even a mirror! It was large enough to accommodate a helmet. And the LCD display showed a gear indicator, as well as a warning about the low water level in the battery and the footrest not being folded. Moreover, if the step was not folded and the driver engaged the gear, the engine was automatically turned off. There were holes near the ignition key that directed air to the driver's face, and on both sides of the fairing there were small doors that could be opened and thereby direct heat from the engine to the driver's feet. The passenger also had the opportunity to control the volume and select radio stations. The passenger seat is adjustable and has three positions. LXE models were equipped with cornering lights, pneumatic driver's seats, coin holders, a map case in the driver's glove compartment, foot deflectors and driver/passenger intercom jacks. There was an option with a CB radio. As an option there was a backrest for the driver and a headrest for the passenger. Another option was a 500-watt AC electrical outlet.
Technical characteristics: Power: 112 hp. at 7000 rpm Torque: 124 N.m. at 5500 rpm Drive: 5 gears, cardan Dry weight: 355 kg.
From 1985 to 1990, approximately 9,000 bikes were assembled. The engine life was about 200,000 km, and with careful operation - all 400,000!

Description Suzuki GV 1400 LX Cavalcade 1987
Description of the Suzuki GV 1400 LX Cavalcade 1987 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls.
Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.
A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.
Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Suzuki GV 1400 LX Cavalcade, the technical characteristics of which allow the model to be called a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.
Currently, it is impossible to purchase a new Suzuki GV 1400 LX Cavalcade motorcycle from the 1987 model year, since their production stopped 29 years ago. At the same time, the Suzuki GV 1400 LX Cavalcade has excellent technical characteristics, so many are eager to purchase, if not a new, then at least a used version.
Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 1360 cc. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.
Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the Suzuki GV 1400 LX Cavalcade - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.

How Czechoslovakian mechanical engineers take into account the proposals of Java motorcycle owners from the USSR
One goal - quality At the end of 1984, YAVA-350 motorcycles of the model “638-5-00” (see “Behind the Wheel”, 1986, No. 3) began to arrive in our stores, differing from its predecessor - “634.00” mainly in the engine and electrical equipment (12 instead of 6 V), as well as a front fork. Owners of new cars positively assessed the improvements. At the same time, they expressed wishes regarding the manufacture of certain components, especially engine parts. Czechoslovak specialists - technologists, designers, having analyzed letters from consumers from the USSR, implemented a set of measures that take into account their suggestions. This work was completed last fall. And recently the scientific editor of the magazine, engineer B. SINELNY KOV, visited Czechoslovakia and got acquainted with the production of motorcycles at Czechoslovak factories. There is probably no need to talk about the great popularity of the JAVA and ChZ motorcycles, which have been attracting our motorcyclists for thirty years with their chassis.
Cross 1 – Irbit cross Ural
Irbit cross-country racing on heavy motorcycles with sidecars (750 cm3 class) has become increasingly popular in recent years. Since 1971, the International Motorcycle Federation has been playing the FIM Cup in this class of cars. And since 1974, she intends to elevate these competitions to the rank of a world championship. Trying their strength, Irbit riders competed in some stages of the “Cup” on Cross-750 motorcycles. Despite the relatively large weight of these machines and power ranging from only 42 to 44 hp. With. the athletes managed to take 1st and 3rd places in Belgium, 5th and 6th in Holland and 7th and 9th in Sweden. For this season, the Irbit plant has created a new motorcycle with a sidecar - Cross-1 . When designing it, the designers focused on increasing power, reducing weight and improving the performance of all components and mechanisms on heavy motocross tracks. Thanks to changes in valve timing, intake and exhaust tracts, a new paper filter, etc.
Dnepr-11 and Dnepr-16. New items
Motorcycle with the brand “Dnepr” Motorcycle “Dnepr-11”. The “Dnepr-16” model with a sidecar wheel drive can be easily distinguished from the one shown in the picture by its separate saddles. The Kiev Motorcycle Plant has begun serial production of new machines “Dnepr-11” and “Dnepr-16”. The first replaced the Dnepr MT10-36 road model, the second replaced the Dnepr-12 off-road motorcycle. During their development, the latest requirements of active and passive safety standards, as well as the wishes of motorcyclists, were taken into account. First, let’s talk about the new components that are common to both models. These are the stroller wheel brake, parking brake, lights and combination switches. Improvements refer to design factors that improve traffic safety. The braking distance from a speed of 60 km/h has become 5 meters shorter. The mechanically operated parking brake operates reliably.

The word “Dnepr” appeared in the vocabulary of motorcyclists. This is the name of a new road motorcycle with a sidecar, created at the Kiev Motorcycle Plant. In accordance with the accepted methodology, the people of Kiev divided the process of mastering the machine into two stages. The first is the design, testing, development and industrial production of an engine that is more powerful and more economical. It is installed on the undercarriage of the currently produced model. The second is the development of an improved crew part.
Minsk M-105
Motorcycles produced by the Minsk plant are familiar to motorcyclists. In 1968, mass production of a motorcycle began, which in its technical parameters significantly exceeds previous models. The release of a new car always causes great interest among owners of old models. What parts of the new design will fit with the old ones and from the old ones to the new one, what alterations will be required to give a new heart to a “weakened” veteran - these are the main questions that concern them. Readers are interested, of course, in why the power increased with the same “cubes”. The purpose of the published article is to answer these questions. First of all, what is a motorcycle? Briefly - M-104 with a completely new power unit (engine with gearbox) and a closed reverse gear. But there are other differences: when you press the brake pedal, the brake light comes on: the new B-300 ignition coil together with the G-411 generator provides a more powerful spark at the spark plug, etc.

Troubleshooting Tips for Java Motorcycles
For those who ride Java motorcycles The editors receive many letters from Java motorcycle owners. They ask for advice on troubleshooting problems that appear during operation. The editors turned to experts and are publishing their answers to these questions. The mechanic of the Moscow workshop for warranty repair of Java and Chezet motorcycles, V. T. BOIKO, tells the story. About malfunctions of the clutch mechanism, gearbox and kick-sterter Clutch mechanism. If a correctly adjusted clutch does not engage smoothly, but jerkily, then to determine the defect it is necessary to disassemble the clutch. First of all, remove the left cover. The shift pedal does not need to be removed before this: it should be installed in the gear shift position, and not in the engine start position. The pedal is removed along with the cover and shift shaft (be careful not to lose the release shaft cover). Before removing the cover, drain the oil from the gearbox housing or place the motorcycle on its right side.
Engine MT-9
New engine for old cars More than ten years ago, the Kiev plant switched to producing motorcycles of the Dnepr family, which differed from the previous one mainly in the power unit. The current engine, despite its smaller displacement (650 cm8 instead of 750 cm3), has more power and better performance. This was achieved by introducing a number of modern design solutions. Thus, thanks to the replacement of roller bearings in the lower heads of the connecting rods with plain bearings (automotive bimetallic liners) and the use of a solid cast-iron crankshaft, the service life of the crank mechanism is increased and at the same time its repair is simplified. Bimetallic cylinders (aluminum jacket and cast iron liner) made it possible to significantly reduce the heat stress of the piston group compared to previous solid cast iron ones and ensure its performance during long-term driving in difficult road conditions. And it is quite natural for owners to want a motorcycle.
Device for disassembling the shock absorber of the rear suspension of the Dnepr motorcycle
To disassemble the shock absorber Repair of the rear suspension shock absorber on the Dnepr motorcycle begins with dismantling the outer casing. This operation is only possible if you first compress the spring under the casing and remove the crackers 5 (see figure). For this purpose, I use the simplest device consisting of an annular cage 3, an axis 2 and two bolts 1. All parts with dimensions are shown in the figure. We remove the silent block from the upper eye of the shock absorber, place the device clip on top of the casing, insert the axle into the eye and screw the bolts into it until they stop into the special recesses on the clip. Tightening the bolts one by one, we compress the spring until the crackers 5 are released. We remove the crackers from the socket and, by unscrewing the bolts from the axle, release the casing and spring. V.VASKOV Kostroma region, Neya Device for disassembling the shock absorber of the rear suspension of the Dnepr motorcycle: 1 - M8 bolt (2 pcs.); 2 - axis; 3 — clip; 4 — upper suspension eye.

Motorcycle Minsk M-104
New from MMVZ For more than two years now, the Minsk Motorcycle Plant has been producing M-103 motorcycles, which have gained popularity among motorcyclists. Thanks to their light weight, durability and sufficient engine power, they have become a reliable means of transportation in the countryside. Now the plant has mastered production and began producing a new motorcycle - M-104. It has a number of differences from the M103. First of all, this is the lining of the frame and carburetor, which was not present on the M-103. The cladding improves the appearance of the machine and makes it easier to maintain. To remove the carburetor trim, just unscrew one screw. There is practically no need to remove the frame lining during operation, but it is quite easy to do: it is attached to the frame with only three bolts. The M-104 motorcycle engine develops a power of 5.5 liters. With. at 5000-5200 rpm. The increase in power was achieved by a slight change in the valve timing in the cylinder, as well as by adjusting the exhaust system. Fuel consumption did not increase. M-104 consumes 2.
