The IZH-2126 family of cars was discontinued on July 1, 2005, although a year earlier the model received a number of improvements that amounted to a full-fledged restyling.
The stumbling block turned out to be safety: when tested according to EuroNCAP standards, the car initially received 2 points out of 16, after which the designers of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant began to correct the body's shortcomings. Unfortunately, their work was interrupted by the company’s decision to completely remove the model from the assembly line.
In 2022, IZH-ODA 2126 has every chance of returning to the Russian market under the name IZH Oda and with an appearance that will be reminiscent of Vesta, which is fading into history. Time will tell whether such continuity will play a role, but for now the cheapest equipment of the Lada Vesta is offered for 724 thousand rubles.

New Izh “Oda”: first images
In January, it was announced that future Lada models will be built on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. In other words, the new Ladas will be restyled Dacia cars, with which they will be jointly developed in the new Dacia-Lada division. This calls into question the fate of the popular Vesta, but the car turned out to be quite successful. However, now a solution has been found - it will become the successor to the Izh-2126 model, also known under the names “Oda” and “Orbita”. This car was produced at the IzhAvto enterprise from 1990 to 2005 and had a lot in common with the models of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant. For example, the headlights were borrowed from the Samara family, as well as the steering wheel (until 2000, then it was replaced by a “ten” steering wheel). Also, some modifications of the car used VAZ engines.
Now this tradition will be continued by a new car, but it will have much more in common with VAZ products, because it will be a redesigned version of the Lada Vesta. One of the most significant changes is a new liftback body, which is exactly what the Izh-2126 has. The front part will be updated with a narrower radiator grille, which may also evoke associations with Oda, and a new bumper of a simpler design will appear. The X-style is no longer relevant (the new Niva, by the way, will also be without it), so the car will lose its chrome boomerangs, and the stamping on the doors will become simpler. Another characteristic feature of the Izh-2126 is the beveled rear wheel arches, this will also be reflected in the new model. At the rear there will be new lights, the simple shape of which will echo the original. In order to reduce the cost as much as possible, the car will be equipped from the factory only with stamped rims.
As already mentioned, the Izh-2126 was also equipped with VAZ engines: in 1998, production of the 2126-300 modification with a VAZ-2126 engine began, and the all-wheel drive version was equipped with a 21213 engine and an axle from the Niva. As for the new model, it will be equipped with a base engine from Vesta, namely VAZ-21129 (1.6, 106 hp). At the same time, they plan to transfer the car to rear-wheel drive, because the original “Oda” had a classic layout, which set it apart from its main competitors - VAZ-2109 and Moskvich-2141.

The price of the new model is still unknown, but it can be made cheaper than Vesta due to simpler equipment and some changes in the interior. For comparison, today prices for Lada Vesta start at 723,900 rubles for a sedan with the same 1.6-liter engine producing 106 hp.

The design of the motorcycle is notable due to two shock absorbers located in the rear of the body, on the suspension. Most likely, the noted move was used due to the considerable mass of the bike, supplemented with batteries. The instrument panel itself will not surprise the buyer with any pretentiousness - everything is as simple and clear as possible. Although, why add frills to special equipment.

Representatives of the Kalashnikov concern spoke about another attempt to transform the usual IZH. At one of last year's exhibitions, the prototype of the motorcycle was first presented to the public. We are talking about a heavy-duty version of the vehicle. It is worth noting that in one of its modern forms, the updated IZH will appear in the guise of an electric bike. In the new guise, the motorcycles will become heavy. Based on official information, IL is produced according to the “Cortege” project. The first deliveries of bikes are expected this year. A prototype of the new product was presented at one of the innovative exhibitions at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall.
