Scooter Honda Tact AF 51 (Honda Tact AF) AF51-100

The Honda Tact AF 51 scooter is rightfully recognized as one of the best scooters for mixed road surfaces and off-road use. Almost the entire Takt line is distinguished by maneuverability, unpretentiousness, and high load capacity. In this review we will talk about the crown of the entire series - Tact AF 51, produced in 1997-2002. Imagine: sometimes a Honda Tact AF 51 can be found even without mileage - they love the scooter so much. This model has absorbed all the best from its predecessors, becoming one of the most popular scooters. Engine with catalytic converter, anti-theft system, mixed brakes and much more in this review!

Appearance

The Honda Tact AF51 cannot be confused with any other scooter: rounded lines, a bright oval-shaped crystal headlight, a wide and long seat. In front of the driver’s feet there is a pocket in which hand luggage can be placed, and behind, traditionally, there is a trunk and rear panniers. At the edge of the rear of the body there are sharp turn signals running along the body and a rectangular headlight.

The two-seater scooter Takt AF51 with 50cc allows for a ride with a passenger, and you can ride really comfortably. It is worth noting its special design: it allows you to change your seating position while riding.

The dashboard traditionally houses the odometer, speedometer, fuel level sensor, as well as oil sensors, turn signals and the “Stand Up” system. The symbols on the panel are large; there are yellow arrows on the speedometer and fuel level sensor.

How I bought a scooter - Honda Tact AF-31

Sorry for being off topic, but characters like this just infuriate!!! Dear Vyacheslav, weren’t you in a mental hospital or in a madhouse???????? Because everything you write is nonsense, nonsense and a million times nonsense, and bullshit1 Well, why are you saying that you went from Khabarovsk to Luchegorsk on a moped, albeit a 100 cc one??... Hahaha!. Do you even know where it is, this city, my friend, huh?!!! The only thing that is correct out of all the general nonsense is that you indicated the distance: it really is about 300 km. But then complete nonsense begins, in no way compatible with reality - as they say, bend your fingers, gentlemen! How realistic is it for the two of us, so that two healthy men (you and your dad) can fit on it, and even gather so far away? Even if you can fit two people on it, it’s very limited and you can drive like this no more than a couple of kilometers and no higher than 20-25 km/h. Firstly, secondly, how long did it take you to get there, you say? In 4.5 hours and with one!!!!!!!!!! stop? You can go crazy from such blatant lies! YES I DRIVE BY CAR AT LEAST 5-6 HOURS!!!!! AND I STOP EVERY 25-30 KM, BECAUSE MY LEGS AND BACK ARE STILL AND NUMB! CAR, IF ANYTHING, Toyota Hiace! AND THE TWO OF THEM ROVE SO FAST ON THE SCOOTER! YOU AND YOUR FATHER WOULD HAVE ALL PARTS OF YOUR BODY FROM NUMBITY! I will never believe such bullshit! thirdly, the 100 cc version of Lida will never reach 70 km/h in five seconds, even if you are alone, or even two of you. It reaches a maximum of 85 km/h (according to the speedometer) in 19-20 seconds, personally measured with a chronometer mounted on the steering wheel. And for comparison, I’ll say that in 5 seconds my car will reach only 35-40 km/h, you rated the scooter as a sportbike, like the Honda CBR 1000 DS, only it has 4 cylinders and 172 power, so no need to la- la-la!!! Well, fourthly, how fast were you moving? Everything is easy to calculate: (we divide the distance by the travel time, 2nd grade of elementary school, my children solve this easily) 300 divided by 4.5 and we get approximately 67-68 km/h!!!!!! This is unreal! And considering that you also stopped for a smoke break, well, let it be 10 minutes, so your speed is 75-77 km/h, it’s easy to calculate, you had to catch up with this time on the road. This will repeat mathematics for elementary school. Yes, your engine would not be able to withstand such a load (with just two of you) working for several hours in a row at almost maximum speed, and first of all, you and your dad would not be able to!! It would have overheated after ten minutes of such torture and would have jammed and gone on the train. Well, now the main thing is - do you know why I laid everything out so neatly? Yes, I also recently got such a scooter from 2004 and that’s why I can confidently say so! And I also live in Khabarovsk, and I haven’t driven it further than the village of Pereyaslavka, because my body is very numb. And now you will continue to assure that this is how it happened?!! And I almost forgot, how come they gave you a PTS and you don’t register??? There’s no way they’ll give him away without looking at his license! And in general, according to the law, five days are given for this, and if you also don’t have rights, then... why be surprised, such a schizophrenic and imbecile will never be given them!! Good luck to everyone on the roads and in life!

The Last Two-Stroke Tact

The Honda scooter under the factory designation AF-51 debuted in 1998 and almost became the last Tact in the company's history. The fact is that the outdated AF24E two-stroke engine no longer fit into the environmental framework, so the launch of the seventh generation of scooters was a big question.

Honda was not ready to replace the two-stroke two-stroke engine with a four-stroke engine in 1998, so it had to install the same old AF24E, but thoroughly redesigned to meet environmental standards, which reduced its power from 6.1 hp. up to 5.2 hp

Crystal and retro

The design of the tail of the seventh generation Honda Tact has changed thoroughly - now the bias towards retro style is clearly visible, where all the lines of the scooter have acquired smoothness and a certain massiveness. This is especially noticeable in the front end with a block headlight, massive wing and fairing.

The headlight, by the way, is crystal and has increased power (compared to the head light of the previous generation model).

Ride quality

The maximum speed of the Honda Tact AF-51 is electronically limited to 60 km/h. If you remove the limiter and catalyst, you can increase the maximum speed to 75 km/h, but if you drive at the limit, the engine will fail faster.

Thanks to the lever fork, the Honda Tact AF-51 is better suited for leisurely driving on bad roads.

Honda two-stroke engines have a separate lubrication system; it is installed on all generations of Tact, so there is no need to mix gasoline with oil yourself.

AF-51 Specifications

  • engine type: two-stroke, forced air cooling, gas distribution by reed valve system;
  • engine capacity: 50 cc cm;
  • maximum power: 5.2-6.0 hp;
  • length: 1655 mm;
  • height: 1170 mm;
  • front suspension type: wishbone;
  • front brake type: disc;
  • dry weight: 66 kg;
  • fuel consumption: 2 l. / 100 km;
  • maximum speed: 60 km/h.

Honda Tact AF-51 is an ideal budget segment scooter, simple and reliable. The only negative, and that is conditional, is the higher cost compared to models of previous generations, but the price/quality ratio is very good.

PS Of course, the next generation AF-75/79 with a four-stroke engine, produced since 2015, is newer and more modern than the AF-51, but the price category there is completely different.

In addition, the AF-51 and AF-75/79 models are not very different from each other in appearance (although, of course, the eighth generation looks a little more modern). But as for the four-stroke engine on the AF-75/79 model, it is frankly “vegetable”, especially in comparison with the AF24E on the Honda Tact AF30/31 model.

Honda Tact AF 51

The Honda Tact scooter with the factory index AF 51 is the latest model in the Tact line family of the famous Japanese company.

The first devices of this model date back to the last century, and since then there have been quite a few changes in the design and design of these mopeds. The initial concept of the model was positioned as a compact and convenient city scooter in all respects. And we must admit that such a popular moped fully justifies its purpose. The Honda Tact AF 51 is not a large and comfortable city cruiser with many useful systems designed for comfortable and safe movement. This moped will be an excellent option for everyday trips along the city streets, and even riding for many hours will be a pleasure and joy for the owner of this moped.

A durable and powerful two-stroke engine with a displacement of 49 cm3 and a forced air cooling system is absolutely unpretentious to the quality of fuels and lubricants. Engine maintenance is minimal, which boils down to routine replacement of spark plugs and air filter.

The Honda Tact AF 51 moped has modern and quite tenacious brakes: disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear.

Honda used its patented Combi Breake braking system for the first time on this model, the essence of which is to actively help the driver quickly stop the scooter on any road surface. When braking with the rear brake, the system automatically engages the front one, and does this very correctly, evenly distributing the braking force between the two wheels.

The suspension is very soft and at the same time comfortable due to the front fork of the lever type and the rear mono shock absorber with appropriate settings. It is thanks to this that all the bumps on the road are practically unnoticeable to the crew of this scooter. Comfortable movement is also facilitated by some progressive innovations and innovative technical solutions.

For greater convenience, it was on these models that, as an additional option, an automatic extension system for the central support called Stand Up was installed. The meaning of this “trick” is very simple, convenient and useful. With a separate button on the steering wheel, the electric motor places the scooter on the main stand, thereby making life much easier for its owner. Mopeds with a Stand Up system are ideal for people who do not like to make unnecessary movements.

But that's not all. The company's engineers also worked hard on the ergonomics of the standard moped seat. Its highlight is that the driver can change his seating position while driving without any obstacles or difficulties. Everything here is at the highest level: the shape of the seat allows both driver and passenger to move comfortably.

You can buy this scooter inexpensively in our stores located in convenient places in Moscow. If necessary, equipment is delivered using the company’s own transport or third-party carriers.
